Happy Birthday, Archie!

My little brother bade farewell to teenage life on March 1st. He’s 20; and Tatay and I had a plan about it--we made sure it was a memorable one for all of us. (Is there any better way to celebrate than to have ice cream?!)

I had to take over the kitchen. My menu? The undying spaghetti. Tatay made the best kalamay (rice cake) in the world—my bias shows! His friends and classmates came over on Sunday to join us in a simple celebration. I’d say we really pinned him that day. He was so touched.

I gave him a nice wallet for a gift. Tatay got him a wristwatch. He really was not expecting anything.

He had no idea I know what he wanted. You simply cannot underestimate a big sis. Surprise! Surprise!
